Fruitful Beginnings...

So since I have started painting, I have mainly used my own photos for reference material.  I have been afraid for some reason to attempt to paint from life and therefore haven't tried until now. I decided it was time so I did a couple little paintings of an apple and a lemon.

It's funny, but I had the most trouble with the shadows and not the object itself but I am happy with how they turned out.

Now to look in my fridge for more subjects...

The Virtual Paintout, Romania

This month I got to "travel" to Romania for the Virtual Paintout. It was difficult to choose a street view as there were so many beautiful and interesting scenes to choose from. I decided to paint a view of the Fagaras Mountains from the Transfăgărăşan Road.

Beautiful. Very hard to do it justice.
Here is my submission.

I was recently asked to do a painting for a silent auction fund raiser coming up in March. Details to be posted later.

I have really wanted to do a night scene so I decided the silent auction was the push I needed to do one. I really enjoyed doing this painting and I'm pleased with how it turned out.
